What it does
Selenium is a trace mineral your thyroid depends on to make and regulate its hormones, the ones that set your metabolic pace. It's also the engine behind some of your body's most important antioxidant enzymes, which protect cells from daily damage. You only need a small amount, and more isn't better, so balanced dosing matters.
The science
Selenium activates glutathione peroxidase antioxidant enzymes and converts thyroid hormone T4 to active T3. Essential for thyroid and immune health.
Most relevant for
Thyroid and metabolic support, and antioxidant defense.
