What it does
Vitamin E is a fat-loving antioxidant that protects your cell membranes, the outer skin of every cell, from oxidative damage. It works closely with vitamin C, helping recharge the body's defense system, and supports healthy skin and immune function. It's found in nuts, seeds, and oils, and is stored in the body, so very high supplemental doses aren't recommended.
The science
Vitamin E protects cell membranes from lipid peroxidation, supports immune function, and works synergistically with vitamin C and selenium.
Most relevant for
Skin and antioxidant support, and low-fat or low-nut diets.
